Health care reform

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 aims to enhance the quality of care for all Americans by expanding coverage, guaranteeing choice in coverage and lowering the costs of health care. For this change to be successful, all stakeholders in health care—providers, members, health insurance companies, hospitals, consumers and legislators—need to work together to raise quality and reduce costs. Health care reform affects all of us, not just the uninsured.

Our position: Everyone should have access to quality health care

AmeriHealth Caritas firmly believes that everyone should have access to quality health care. We support health care reform that aligns with our founding mission: to help people get care, stay well and build healthy communities. We believe in holistic patient-centered care, and we have a special concern for those in need.

What we are doing to help

AmeriHealth Caritas is working closely with state partners and regulators to identify priorities and provide the guidance needed to prepare for upcoming changes to Medicaid, Medicare and CHIP. We are also partnering with our providers to increase quality of care for our members in the most cost-effective ways. As innovators in managed care, we embrace the role that technology plays in effective health care delivery. We are working hard to streamline administrative processes for our provider networks with electronic tools that reduce paperwork, facilitate accuracy and coordinate care with ease. It is all part of our commitment to deliver a higher level of care.
