AmeriHealth District of Columbia, a member of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies (ACFC), announced that it is now providing Medicaid managed care and services to Medicaid beneficiaries living in the District of Columbia, effective today. AmeriHealth Caritas is a majority-owned subsidiary of Independence Blue Cross; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan holds a minority interest.
Approximately 100,000 Medicaid beneficiaries living in the District now have access to AmeriHealth District of Columbia's comprehensive suite of services, including covered physical health, behavioral health through ACFC's PerformCare business, pharmacy services through the company's PerformRx affiliate, and dental and vision services designed to improve quality outcomes for Medicaid beneficiaries.
AmeriHealth District of Columbia's new offices are located at 1120 Vermont Ave, NW, Suite 200 and will be staffed with approximately 150 employees.
In March, ACFC entered into an agreement to purchase certain assets from D.C. Chartered Health Plan (in Rehabilitation). Additionally, DHCF announced on April 5 that AmeriHealth District of Columbia will assume operations of D.C. Chartered Health Plan beginning May 1.
Karen Dale, former executive vice president of Health Care Management at D.C. Chartered Health Plan, Inc., will serve as executive director of AmeriHealth District of Columbia. Karen is a seasoned executive with 25 years of experience in health care operations, program development and financial management.
