AmeriHealth Caritas Names Bob Kolodgy Chief Financial Officer

October 28, 2021
Philadelphia, Pa.

AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other health care solutions for those most in need, today announced the appointment of Bob Kolodgy to the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective Nov. 1.

An experienced health care leader, Kolodgy comes to AmeriHealth Caritas with experience in governance, strategy, operations, financial transformation, change management, acquisitions, and joint venture development. He has served in a number of prominent roles, most recently as executive vice president and CFO for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). He has also held leadership roles in several provider organizations, including an integrated health system that owned a health plan with Medicaid, Medicare, workers’ compensation, and commercial lines of business.

At AmeriHealth Caritas, Kolodgy will oversee the company’s financial functions, including accounting and reporting, financial planning and analysis, actuarial services, financial services, treasury management, sourcing, and facilities. He will also play an integral role in new business development and strategic planning.

“Bob brings significant experience and financial acumen to the CFO role, as well as a demonstrated commitment to advancing healthcare solutions for those most in need,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Paul A. Tufano. “His deep knowledge and experience will prove beneficial as our company grows and invests in solutions to ensure our members have access to the resources they need to achieve their dreams.”

Kolodgy arrives during a transformational period at AmeriHealth Caritas. Last month, it announced the launch of a new wholly-owned subsidiary called Social Determinants of Life, Inc., which will invest in, support, and deploy solutions to help people in need build resilience, and help improve their life outcomes. The company made a $29 million investment in Wider Circle, a California-based startup that builds localized, tech-driven health and peer social networks.

“I’m excited to join this company at such an important time,” said Kolodgy. “AmeriHealth Caritas has built a great reputation for compassionate, whole-person care, and it has the opportunity to accomplish even more good in this challenging period for so many Americans. The company is on a terrific trajectory, with an important mission, and it is a privilege to be part of that.”

Among his professional and civic affiliations, Kolodgy is a founding board member of SewHope, an Ohio-based nonprofit group working to improve health in Guatemala, and former chairman of the board of trustees for Notre Dame Academy. He also served as a member of the Blue Health Intelligence board and chaired the board of Plan Investment Funds. Kolodgy earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated magna cum laude.
