AmeriHealth Caritas Celebrates the Spirit of Giving by Honoring Its Volunteers

- Newtown Square, Pa.

AmeriHealth Caritas celebrated the spirit of volunteerism during National Volunteer Week by honoring Care Crew volunteers during a fun and educational celebration at its corporate offices in Newtown Square, Pa.

The Community Investment team, which oversees the Care Crew program, encourages its volunteers to support surrounding communities through charitable giving, providing much needed services, and community health education and outreach programs. Care Crew volunteers embody compassion, leadership, and the spirit of giving.

President and CEO Kelly Munson kicked off the event, which was livestreamed to AmeriHealth Caritas offices across the country, by acknowledging the tireless work and dedication of our associate volunteers. Executive Vice President of Risk and Public Affairs Rhonda Mims joined Kelly as they recognized the honorees and shared volunteer statistics from 2024:

  • Care Crew hosted 344 events across 48 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
  • Two-thirds of AmeriHealth Caritas associates logged volunteer time.
  • Associates contributed 111,000 total hours.

“The executive council — our leadership team — is encouraging and endorsing volunteerism,” said Munson. “We are participants, as well, and we hope to lead by example and build an active culture of commitment through Care Crew.”

The event included an engaging conversation with community partners on the topic of food insecurity and grassroots efforts that make a difference in the Philadelphia region.

Since Care Crew’s founding in 2017, AmeriHealth Caritas employees have volunteered with over 2,000 community partners.
