AmeriHealth Caritas Names Rika Kari Interim Chief Financial Officer

The AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies has named Rika Kari interim chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Kari succeeds Christine Kourouklis, who will now be chief financial officer and treasurer of Independence Blue Cross.

“Rika brings deep health care industry expertise and a strong understanding of the evolving needs of our business,” said Gregg MacDonald, president of AmeriHealth Caritas. “He is a trusted and experienced leader who will help us maintain financial and operational continuity as we continue strengthening our performance and advancing our long-term strategy.”

Kari joined AmeriHealth Caritas in 2025 following more than 20 years in leadership roles at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and Health Care Service Corporation, which operates Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. His appointment also reflects the company’s commitment to thoughtful succession planning and developing experienced leaders with a deep understanding of the business.

Kourouklis and Kari joined AmeriHealth Caritas during a pivotal period for the company and played important roles in strengthening its financial foundation. Their leadership helped provide the organization with stability and focus, positioning the company for long-term success.
